Head of Engineering (Technical Director Designate)Kent c. 50,000 + bonus, car and attractive benefits package Our client, a successful subsidiary of a widely known global electronics group, manufactures and supplies an extensive range of electrical equipment into the electricity supply, railway and power distribution markets in the UK and abroad. The company, which has an excellent reputation for quality, service and innovation, is seeking to appoint a high calibre Head of Engineering to support the ongoing growth of the business. Leading a small team of professional engineers, this role will have responsibility for developing and delivering an engineering strategy in line with the company’s aims and objectives. Working with customers and international suppliers in conjunction with a number of internal departments, the emphasis of the role will be on identifying and satisfying meaningful market opportunities through the design, development and introduction of new and innovative product solutions. Candidates, qualified to degree level in electrical engineering, will have proven engineering management experience gained in a technical product environment, ideally supplying electrical components, sub-systems and/or original equipment solutions. Commercial acumen is particularly important for success in this role and candidates must be able to demonstrate a track record of introducing profitable new products through the implementation of best practice tools and techniques such as VE/DFM/FMEA/APQP. An appreciation of modern CAD/3-D design systems would also be an advantage. Representing the company at senior level to both customers and relevant industry associations demands that the successful candidate be well presented, credible and effective.
