| Mechanical Design Engineer - Birmingham - to 27k Our client specialise in the design and supply of equipment used in the treatment of domestic and industrial water and wastewater, and as a result of recent positive restructuring and a series of strategic acquisitions that have provided the organisation with recognised trademarks, cutting edge technology and access to new markets including sea water desalination and energy, they offer a complete range of both solutions and products on a Global basis and are seeking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to compliment their existing team. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the completion of all/or portions of design using standard techniques, procedures and related engineering tasks in the manufacture of special purpose machinery in the most cost effective manner. To be considered for this challenging and diverse role, the successful candidate will demonstrate skills and experience allied to: * Working with customer & vendors to make proper equipment selections & design related concerns. * Preparing detailed layouts of major machine components and detailing of individual parts as required and for handling design and production assignments through detailing and construction of documentation in preparation of manufacture. * Generation of part numbers and bills of material (BOM's) as required. * Conferring with engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and meet required schedules and to provide technical information. * Assisting Design Drafters and Mechanical Designers in developing structural design of product, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting software. * Reviewing detail drawings for dimensional accuracy and adherence to established standards and specifications and performing investigative analysis of designs for improved performance, appearances, engineering concept and manufacturing capability. * Complying with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health and travel to customers and other company locations. * Obtaining on site measurements to complete necessary tasks assigned. * Working with shop personnel relating to manufacturability and resolution of design; build discrepancies, quality & delivery matters. You will have attained at least an HNC mechanical engineering or higher and/or three years related work experience and demonstrate knowledge and experience in AutoCAD and Inventor, 3D modelling & FEA, as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and strong interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external customers (hence excellent verbal and written skills are essential).
