| Wing Landing Gear Skill Group Leader The role consists of the following activities: - Interfacing with the various Engineering Program Managers to agree resource requirements and organisational structure Ensuring adequate skill level resourcing for each program and individual development by means of: Candidate interviews and proposals for appointments Identifying suitable engineering support organisations for Work Package offloading and liasing with these companies to develop the flow of work and required level of quality and performance Arrange specific training sessions to ensure all resources have a common level of knowledge with the aim to improve this level Coordinate training requirements with other skill group leaders to ensure an agreed training strategy Arranging specific sessions to share lessons learnt across the different programs Conducting Personal Development Reviews Promoting career development planning for each resource and establish a succession plan for all members of the group Developing appropriate candidates towards obtaining Level 2 signature status Acting as the day to day focal point for all aspects of the landing gear design and integration in the absence of program integrators or when required to resolve disputes. Provide technical leadership at various PDR and CDR review meetings Approval of holidays, expenses and training requests Performing return to work interviews following sickness absences Support the company's Power 8 initiative Support and promote various LEAN initiatives Provide monthly communications Profile The jobholder will be a member of the Landing Gear Management Team within the Landing Gear Centre of Competence. Reporting functionally to the Head of Landing Gear Design. The role requires experience form existing programs to be integrated into the design process of new development as well as continuous product development programs. As such a broad knowledge of landing gear design and integration is required. In parallel, the role requires people management skills and the ability to motivate individuals and teams of people. Required Qualifications and Skills Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or a demonstrable understanding of Complex large mechanical components Familiarity with structural design and analysis techniques, preferably within an aerospace context. Computer literacy Ability to work within a changing environment Management of a Large Mechanical development and suppliers Ability to use judgement to make technical recommendations based on incomplete or conflicting design data Good interpersonal and leadership skills Good communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Familiarity with systems engineering processes Familiarity and understanding of aircraft design process |
