| Mission Systems Engineer Our Client is looking to fill a position within the ENS (Earth Observation, Navigation and Science) Mission Systems team in undertaking the design and analysis of space-borne missions and systems, primarily for Earth Observation (EO) missions, systems and instrumentation. The role will involve working on a range of activities including mission analysis and design, satellite system analysis and design, and / or instrumentation development. The successful candidate will be required to take a leading role in proposals and in the subsequent development of overall mission/systems design in feasibility studies, including the development of mission concepts and architectures. You will be expected to develop overall business strategies within the company in relation to these missions, and to define and lead associated R&D activities. Be able to identify potential innovative technical approaches, whilst maintaining a balance with preferred customer solutions. The work may include mathematical modelling, theoretical physics analysis, generation of design requirements, design trade-offs and analysis, and performance analysis. Qualifications and Skills: Essential University degree in Physics or Spacecraft Engineering (minimum Upper Second class honours) Ph.D. or M.Sc. is desirable Proven experience at industry or postgraduate level in Earth Observation Space Engineering Systems design. Good understanding of Earth Observation applications and instrumentation Ability to communicate effectively with spacecraft and space systems engineers. Experience in proposal writing and of working in a commercial environment would be an advantage. Excellent analytical and presentation skills (written and oral) Practical experience and the ability to think at conceptual / systems level. A demonstrated ability to work in (and lead) a small team Good customer interaction ability. Highly organised Motivated Ability to work under pressure Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
