| I am currently recruiting for a Lead Design Engineer for a 6 month rolling contract to be based in Staffordshire. The client are a leading multi-national organisation that specialise in power transmission and distribution. In this role you will have overall responsibility for the complete design and technical content of a High Voltage Substation project throughout its life-cycle, including, but not limited to following activities: The technical management and coordination of a multi-discipline engineering project team to ensure a safe, harmonised design, which meets the Client requirements. Preparation of technical definition specifications for main and auxiliary plant application to support the procurement process. Preparation and submission of design proposal documentation encompassing primary, secondary and civil elements of the project to the Client. Management of the technical interface with both the Client and Site installation team for purpose of design approval, process management and the resolution of technical issues. Supporting the planning process by identifying realistic activity timescales, task sequencing based on safe methodologies of work and the requirement for system network outages Control and reporting of the project engineering budget for all engineering disciplines The client are looking for candidates with the following background: You will possess a Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline. You will have proven experience within the electrical power transmission industry and have familiarity with its standards, practices and procedures. You will also have a good understanding of the High Voltage Systems business environment and commercial awareness. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work both within a project team environment and on your own initiative. Clarity, attention to detail, possession of decision-making abilities and the capability to multi-task are key skills for this role. The ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the CDM Regulations (2007), would be advantageous. Candidates can expect the role to require occasional travel and overnight stays within the UK.
