An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civils Manager to join this leading Independent Connections Provider which delivers a flexible and rapid response service to a variety of utility connection requirements. With expertise across a wide range of sectors, they deliver a turnkey solution, from initial enquiry through design, construction and the final adoption of the network by the Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

As the Civils Manager you will manage internal civil based resources in delivering new electricity connections, as well as determine and source materials, plant, labour and traffic management to support the company's civil activity. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring and auditing civil teams and contractors. In this role you will liaise with local authorities both on site and during the planning stage inclusive of section 50 applications as well as provide technical support to Project Managers and the Sales/Tendering team if required. This role will initially cover all connections predominantly in the South of the UK, therefore travelling will be a requirement of the position - a vehicle will be provided.

To succeed as the Civils Manager you will require a good level of experience managing civil activity in both the electricity distribution industry and working in the highway. Experience in civil engineering would be advantageous, for example plinths & substation buildings. You should also be a qualified NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act 1991) Supervisor for the main categories of excavation and reinstatement in the highway and hold a CSCS card. Formal civil engineering qualifications would be advantageous, as would experience of cable installation, winching, lifting and handling and confined space training.

They also have the capability to install high voltage switchgear/distribution transformers including all fitting duties to complete an installation such as substation earthing; control cabling and final testing/commissioning of the installation. Salary will be negotiable dependent on experience.
