| TECHNICAL SPECIALIST - TRANSMISSION DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT AUTOMOTIVE POWERTRAIN DEVELOPMENT MICHIGAN, USA This is an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Technical Specialist in Transmission Design & Development to join this leading powertrain design and development consultancy in North America and to take on a Senior Project Engineering role, leading and authoring large proposals spanning multiple skill teams (-$250k), providing expertise to engineering activities, and taking responsibility for establishing, communicating, and assuring compliance with best practices. As Technical Specialist – Transmission Design & Development your specific duties will include: Development of relationships with experts in Transmissions Field; Checking design calculations for accuracy and improvement; Reviewing and interpreting CAE results and driving design changes; Identifying and managing appropriate prototype part suppliers; Collaborating with leadership team to suggest improvements to transmission designs; Leading development and testing projects; and Identifying testing methodologies and implement. Your general responsibilities will be to provide technical expertise to company leadership and the engineering community, to provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers within the skill team, to create and maintain technical education resources and to participate in customer projects with new design/major redesigns as a technical expert and ensure best practice compliance You will evaluate and develop new techniques / resources needed to execute simulation projects and special assignments and will develop best practice / lessons learned methods and documentation as well as coordinating resource usage on appropriate projects (R&D, customer, internal, etc.) and participating in the quotation/design review process to ensure deliverables are achievable. Your deliverables will include: Benchmarking of applicable technology; Documentation of technical memory for respective area of expertise; Consulting on testing, data analysis, and tools development; Communicating with Skill Teams for latest technical developments; Supplying appropriate technical expertise and participating in discussions; Maintaining and facilitating workshops in area of expertise; and Initiating efforts to evaluate new business opportunities. To succeed as Project Engineer – Engine & Vehicle Calibration, you will be qualified to Masters degree level or equivalent in Engineering or related field and must have extensive experience in Powertrain Engineering. Proven Mentoring skills are also essential.
