MECHANICAL ENGINEER – TURBINES AND AUXILIARY PLANT POWER GENERATION WESTERN AUSTRALIAAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join the major power generation company in the coastal Bunbury area of Western Australia. In this role you will provide engineering direction and perform a lead role in engineering assignments in order to achieve cost effective maintenance Power station and assist the Power station operation to attain the highest level of efficiency focussing in particular on turbines and auxiliary plant. This role will involve supporting the maintenance sub group in the resolution of day-to-day engineering problems and acting as a source of technical expertise. You will provide scope of work and technical direction of plant overhauls. You will review plant development proposals as well as develop and audit maintenance and commissioning procedures to improve reliability, efficiency and safety. In addition you will conduct engineering investigations as required by the Engineering Superintendent and provide technical advice pertaining to power generating plant to the Management Group and exchange technical information with external organisations. You will also have involvement with budget control. To succeed as the Mechanical Engineer you will be of degree level in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered status would be advantageous. Any coal fired power station experience would be welcome. Ideally your experience/knowledge will also cover the following: design, construction, contract administration, operation and maintenance of large power generating plant or gas turbine plants; power generation technology; current design and construction theory; contractual principles and procedures; computer aided design, drafting and manufacture; industrial safety; planning and scheduling; engineering standards; economic evaluation; operation and maintenance practices; quality assurance practices; materials and components. Your role will also involve some indirect supervision of up to 20 Engineers/Technical Officers.
