ENGINEERING DESIGN DRAUGHTSPERSON OIL & GAS INDUSTRY NEAR CARDIFFWe are seeking an Engineering Design Draughtsperson to join this world leader in the design, development and manufacture of precision, innovative downhole electromechanical data acquisition instrumentation for the worldwide oil and gas industry at their offices near Cardiff in South Wales. Their products are used to measure flow, pressure, temperature and other parameters within the well bore. The purpose of this role is to carry out precision mechanical design drafting activities and assist the design engineers and project engineers in the design and development of high-precision, high-temperature electro-mechanical instrumentation for use in oil and gas wells. Your responsibilities will include the production of high quality engineering drawings/models (parts and assemblies); production of parts lists, drawings, assembly instructions for Operations and design of test schedules and plans for new products. You will be checking that parts lists, drawings and engineering documentation is consistent, correct and complies with engineering standards prior to release and assisting with the development of production documentation, including test schedules and programmes for production hand-over of new products. You will undertake the compilation of mechanical sections of product operations and maintenance manuals and support product design and development. In addition you will be raising and processing Engineering Modification Requests (EMR’s). The successful candidate must be qualified to a HND level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely-related discipline and have significant demonstrable experience in the use of CAD/3D solid modelling packages in the field of complex, low volume high-precision engineering; knowledge of Pro-E would be a distinct advantage. You should have knowledge and expertise of high pressure seals, pressure vessels, electromechanical systems, hydraulics and fluid dynamics, as well as of Product Data Management systems and general engineering configuration controls. You will also require knowledge and understanding of manufacturing techniques appropriate for precision-engineered products. Experience in Design for Manufacture & Design for Test techniques and approaches is also required. Report writing and communications skills should be well above average and production of technical documentation will be required. Good team-working skills, flexibility and self-motivation are essential. Experience of participation in fast-paced development projects would also be very useful.
