OPERATIONS MANAGER OIL & GAS INDUSTRY BRIDGEND, WALESWe are seeking an Operations Manager to join a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of precision, innovative downhole electromechanical data acquisition instrumentation for the oil and gas industry. This company operates a cell/batch type manufacturing and assembly process for building low-volume, high-value downhole measuring instruments used in finding oil and gas. As Operations Manager you will ensure that all the elements required to assemble each product are available to the Assembly and Test team on the date due for handover of the kit. Active, hands-on leadership will be paramount in inspiring the Operations team to achieve the results to meet the required production and to ensure that the team operates to the highest professional standards. Within this, you will effectively plan, monitor and guide overall production in conjunction with other production group managers and supervisors and develop and monitor operations budgets in conjunction with the finance team. You will address issues impacting on production in a timely fashion to ensure delays are minimised and effects are mitigated. You will manage operations KPI’s, producing operational reports for the executive and board as well as the sales, engineering and finance teams. You will provide technical and hands-on support in your areas of expertise and critique, discuss and objectively input to electronic and mechanical production requirements and issues with operations managers and teams. In addition, you will ensure health and safety requirements are fully met at all times and the highest levels of housekeeping implemented. To succeed as Operations Manager, you will have a degree/HND in a manufacturing /mechatronic /mechanical discipline with 10-15 years’ experience in the successful management of an operations team, including manufacturing, sub-contract, procurement, stores and scheduling to deliver production within a complex, technical, multi-product environment to challenging deadlines and to budget. You will also have experience in low volume, high value manufacturing operations. You will have detailed knowledge and experience of precision, cellular machining operations, tooling requirements, routing creation and machine scheduling optimisation, and in recommending appropriate machining technology to meet manufacturing requirements. In addition, you will have demonstrable experience in solving supply-chain problems in a specialist low volume manufacturing environment. You will have enthusiasm, drive and commitment and a real passion for engineering and manufacturing and be a proven goal-orientated achiever. You will have the judgement to make decisions to meet the business’s strategic objectives based on your own experience and be prepared to stand by those decisions but to realise when additional input to your decision making is required.
