ASSEMBLY AND TEST TECHNICIAN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY BRIDGEND, NEAR CARDIFFWe are seeking an Assembly and Test Technician to mechanically and electronically assemble and test the high-tech instruments and systems designed and manufactured by the company to the required company and industry standards. The company is driving through significant growth plans over the next few years and this role is considered critical in order to meet the planned growth of 400% T/O increase over the next 5 years As Assembly and Test Technician, you will be responsible for the kitting of PCB’s and instruments – both electronic and mechanical – and for hand assembling both surface mount and through-hole PCB’s, using high and very high temperature solders. You will have the ability to interpret circuit and wiring diagrams accurately and perform the wiring of electro-mechanical instrumentation, coil winding, as required, environmental testing of instruments and systems and electronic trouble shooting to component level. You will also be responsible for the repair, maintenance and test of client equipment, as required, and the good maintenance and appropriate storage of test equipment to ensure that all is fully functional when required. You will assist the Sales Team with client/ internal training, as required, and engage in good housekeeping at all times. To succeed in this role, you will have a qualification in electronics preferably to HNC / HND level, or an ability to operate and understand electronics to an equivalent level. You will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role and the ability to hand solder through-hole and surface mount components to a good standard and good wire instrumentation skills. You will have demonstrable mechanical aptitude and be self-motivated, enthusiastic and driven and capable of working with minimum supervision. You must have the ability to perform in a fast changing, high-pressured environment and work to challenging and changing deadlines whilst having pride in your work, carried out with consistency, accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of IPC-A-610 Class C is highly desirable but not essential, as are electronic trouble shooting skills to component level and the ability to multi-task.
