02/2012 - Jobseekers feel “Presentation at Interview” is key to standing out from the crowd
A recent survey by TipTopJob.com found 23% of jobseekers felt that “Presentation at Interview” is the most important factor to make you stand out from the crowd when applying for a new job.
This was closely followed by 22% who felt that “Practical/Relevant Work Experience” was most important, 20% “Effective Cover Letter”, 18% “Previous Qualifications” and 17% “Relevant Skills”.
With the number of applications per job increasing, it is by no means easier to find a job. It is becoming more and more important to focus on those most important factors that ensure you stand out from the crowd. Some examples include, creating a tailored CV with relevant work experience, qualifications and relevant skills to the job, a tailored and targeted cover letter, being prepared for your interview and making sure you look the part when attending your interview.
Corinne Hutchinson, comments, “It is such a tough market out there and so many people apply for one job after another in their desperation to get into a new job. If you are finding it tough, it is so important to take a step back and look at what jobs you are applying for and decide if they are the right ones for you. Once this has been addressed, it is then time to look at the CV, Cover Letter and preparation for an Interview”.

01/2012 - TipTopJob sees USA traffic surge
TipTopJob has managed to record its biggest ever traffic figures across the USA.
The traffic increase represents a compound annual growth rate of 35% over the period end 2010 to end 2011. This trend can be explained by the increase in job count month on month over the same period and subsequent increase in jobseekers being attracted to the jobsite applying for jobs. At the end of 2011, TipTopJob experienced over 4 million visits to the website, a massive 300% increase from 2009 where there was only a total of 1 million visits for the same period of a year.
TipTopJob now boasts over 200,000 jobs in the USA alone with over 300,000 jobs globally. The site is becoming a more popular jobsite amongst some of the largest household names across The States and sees new Corporate Clients signing up each month.
Mike Dauncey, CEO comments, “We are truly becoming a global jobsite now that our activity in the USA is growing so much. We have also become more established in Mexico in just the last few months.”

01/2012 - 18% of people apply to MORE than 20 jobs
A recent study from TipTopJob.com of over 1000 jobseekers across the UK found that 18% of respondents apply to more than 20 jobs when looking for a new job.
This huge statistic reflects the difficulty of finding a new job in the current marketplace and highlights that people, in their desperation to find work, apply to job after job after job.
The survey also found that 35% of respondents apply to 1 or 2 jobs and 20% apply to between 2 and 5.
Mike Dauncey, CEO, comments, “We are all aware of the difficulty in finding work at the moment, but the most important thing for jobseekers is to remain positive (no matter how hard that may be) and ensure they are only applying to those jobs that are most relevant and practical for them. There is no point applying on mass and just hoping for the best as not only will this upset the recruiter, it will make the jobseekers feel worse about themselves with unnecessary rejections.”
